  • Release stock raw material from suppliers and coordinate deliveries for 15-20 truckloads per week to ensure availability while also utilizing just-in-time delivery practices with safety stock to minimize on hand inventory.
  • Level load demand across 20+ cold headers and bolt makers based on available capacity, manning, and machine capabilities.
  • Optimize setup efficiency by grouping similar parts based on material, draw size, length, and part type. Numerous grades of material, diameter ranges from less than 1/4″ to over 1″, and lengths from less than 1″ to over 12″.
  • Work closely with leadmen and operators to find additional schedule efficiency adjustments while maintaining a balance between setup minimization and customer on time delivery.
  • Communicate with sales personal at warehouses nationwide to ensure safety stock levels are kept for short lead time orders.
  • Responsible for the production and shipment of approximately 5 million fasteners per week.
  • Train and supervise the Buyer/Planner who took over the responsibilities listed in the position below.

Buyer / Planner || Nelson Stud Welding (Stanley Black & Decker)

  • Manage CAT product line.
    • Review weekly release and forecast changes and accommodate where available by adjusting production schedules.
    • Purchase discrete raw materials and schedule work across 6 cold headers and bolt makers.
    • Work with subcontract suppliers to ensure quick turn around to meet customer delivery dates.
  • Manage ferrule department.
    • Purchase and schedule the mix of ingredients to create raw material clay.
    • Schedule various sizes across 15 presses by level loading demand to optimize efficiency while meeting customer due dates.
    • Coordinate kiln processing and packing for approximately 5 million ferrules per week.

  • Manage day-to-day operations supervising direct and indirect reports in the areas of supply chain, procurement, distribution, and inventory.

  • Create and monitor weekly master schedule for all departments in the shop as well as off-site subcontract operations.
  • Coordinate with department lead men to group shop orders efficiently to minimize change overs while still meeting customer deliveries.
  • Utilize level and balanced scheduling practices by reallocating resources to address bottlenecks and capacity constraints.
  • Set safety stock levels using historical data and forecasts to minimize finished goods inventory while maintaining a high level of service to customers.
